Cakes that were inspired

Sunday, January 24th, 2010

We have had some recent projects that were really a lot of fun, so take a look and let us know if any of these inspire your next cake.

This project came from a guy who was proposing to his girlfriend. The tree was inspired by her family’s cultural flag and they loved the outdoors. Since he was traveling quite a long way, we hand painted this fondant coin that went on top of a red velvet cake.

P.s. She said yes!!

This cake was piped in frosting on top of fondant, inspired from a photo of a pattern the bride saw.

This baby shower cake was inspired from our website cake gallery.

File O FishThis cake was actually ordered for Christmas as a running family joke. Apparently one year mom burnt the turkey dinner and so they all had McDonalds Fillet O Fish sandwiches. I'm sure it wasn't funny then, but 20 years later they are still laughing. Hockey and Heart

This cake was for a birthday down the street at Fat Cats. She wanted something that represented her husband, who enjoyed hockey, the Pittsburgh Penguins, and Heart ( you know the girl band from the 80′s). So we replicated his duffelbag and favorite hockey puck along with a Heart T-shirt and his favorite Heart band member.

Good ideas.

The two matching cakes were for a last minute party. Since our vintage cakes only have a minimum of a 24hour notice, she selected the 12 inche which feeds up to 25 people and we added a fondant ribbon around the center and a fondant leaf accent from her invitation. A Good job to our intern who completed these cake, they turned out better than the customer was expecting.

As for the cookie monster….how cute.

Butterfly cupcakes

Hand painted butterfly wings, inspired from a baby’s wall paper border.

A Film of Her Life

This was a cute idea created by a husband and a best friend. The idea was to incorroporate about 7 things that were important in this birthday girl’s life, so we used a movie film to tell the story. Each of the scenes were hand painted with 2-D elements, such as the volleyball on the first frame looked like as if it were coming out of the cake. What was nice about this cake was that there was no front or back, all angels had something special. Good idea to the “Chris’s”.

Foundation room gold

Happy Birthday Arnold! This gold cake was served at the House of Blues Foundation Room on Saturday. If you are one of the few lucky people who have been inside the Foundation Room, you will see why this masculine cake fits in well with the decor.
